EV Charge Into the Future

Sep 2, 2021

With the rising cost of gas and the cost to maintain a gas vehicle at over two times that of an electric vehicle (EV) on average, people are starting to really appreciate electric cars. Researchers are expecting over 30% of all vehicles to be EVs by 2040. Prices for EVs continue to drop, and the workforce needs to understand that the time to get into the transition is now.

As we move forward, the world realizes we need to be proactive and accept new technologies to lead a more sustainable future. Electric vehicles produce 50% fewer emissions than gas cars on average over their lifetime, including the manufacturing process. We as business leaders need to be not only responsible but also promote economic responsibility to our business and our community. Below are just a few benefits of bringing charging stations to the workplace.

    • Retain Talent – With the difficulties now finding and retaining talent, companies are looking at what opportunities there are to help. This time is, as it is being termed, the great resignation. Over 4 million people quit their jobs in April 2021 alone, which is a new record. As more and more people buy electric, this will be enticing, as well as it will show that your business takes care of its people and makes changes to prepare for the future.
    • More Sustainable Business – As global climate change continues to wreak havoc, people inside and out of your business are watching to see what you are doing to help. Bringing in support for more sustainable vehicles is a step to show that you are doing what you can to be green and play your part as a leader in supporting your community’s health and well-being.
    • Industry Leadership – Those that decide to embody change become the leaders. Electric vehicles are a newer technology and are likely to be a big part of the future. Getting on this trend early helps prove your place as a leader and shows that you support your people and plan to be a part of the future.
    • Tax Credits – Installing an EV charging station currently has a $2500 to $7500 tax credit. In addition to this, if you purchase and install your EV charging station by December 31, 2021, your business may be able to receive a 30% tax credit of up to $30,000. Also, in Colorado, government agencies will pay for up to 80% of the cost of installation. All this helps make the addition to your facility a much more manageable price.

To summarize, installing EV chargers at your facility will help support employees that are trying to be more green by using an electric vehicle, show that you are a leader by joining a new movement early, help retain talent as EVs become more popular, and there are big tax credits and funding for businesses that install the EV chargers.

With so many benefits, it is time we all start taking those extra steps to move forward into the future. To learn more about the next steps in setting up EV charging stations at your facility, click here.
