Does your Supply Chain have a case of the Coronavirus?

Jul 19, 2021

Manufacturers everywhere are being affected by the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) as it impacts shipments getting out of China and causes workforce interruptions. But it doesn’t have to impact your bottom line as much as you think.

There are a couple of solutions to this problem that don’t involve curing the disease or setting up a complex smuggling operation to get your parts. The first lies with your insurance company. If you cannot get the parts you need to keep operating, you may be able to file a Force Majeure claim with your insurance company. This would allow you to keep your bills and employees paid without completely devastating the bank accounts.

Your other option is to look closer to home to fill these gaps in your supply chain. Contact Colorado Tech Shop in Longmont, CO, to build your PCBs and wiring harnesses. Or reach out to our client Avid Product Development to have those plastic parts 3D Printed instead of shipped worldwide. Wouldn’t it be a lot more preferable to drive across town to get the parts you need to keep operating instead of constantly clicking refresh on your DHL tracking codes, hoping that the plane was able to take off? Shortening your supply chain may sometimes come with increased labor costs, but wouldn’t you rather be able to stay in operation and keep your customers happy? If you are looking to shorten yours, we can help!
