For example every package regardless of commodity or industry should provide the following:
Assembly drawings with notes and if critical dimensions are required note them somehow.
Electronic files (.igs, gerber, etc): any modeling that would be required for your specific industry sector and if that feels confusing call H2 we can coach through this.
Pick and placement files (electronic centric)
Appropriate GDT and tolerancing data (specific machining). Drawings that are not called out appropriately and/or tolerance appropriately can really do some cost impact damage.
Quality inspection notes and requirements. This can be in a separate document or on the assembly drawing but be sure you clearly identify: What’s required, how much inspection is needed? First article and then first, middle, last of the qty run and criticals only? If there is visual inspection for workmanship what magnification under what power of scope? AS9102, IPCII, III or none of the above. Quality rigor and requirements can really drive cost into the overall cost of a part. It’s not always necessary so contact H2 for help assessing this. What are you trying to achieve? Has your supplier gotten any previous infractions, etc.
Packaging specification: what’s required and if nothing is call this out as standard. If not be specific what is needed. If there is a certain standard called out note that standards typically have alot of leeway so be specific what you want.
Labeling: provide specific examples and locations of the expectations.
These notes are just a few of the many things we see go awry at times that could be of tremendous cost advantage if submitted correctly at the quote stage.
